testing of I.C.

i am a third year student doing ECE.presently iam having LINEAR INTEGRATED CIRCUITS LAB.
I WANT TO KNOW WHETHER THE I.C. (for eg.I.C CA741) IS IN PROPER WORKING CONDITION OR NOT?HOW TO TEST IT?
